WORKSHOP «LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN PRACTICE» was held

On December 22, 2004 the Workshop titled “Local economic development in practice” was held in the Conference Room of the Gorazde municipality. The workshop was aimed to continuation of activities arisen from the completed Project on establishment of efficient frame for LED in the municipalities of the Canton . The workshop was intended for newly elected representatives of legislative power in the municipalities of the Canton , representatives of local non-governmental organisations and representatives of local communities. Representatives of the OSCE Field Office Foca and REDRIN attended the workshop as well.

ALDI u.g. Director, Mr Demir IMAMOVIC presented the Project and its results to participants of the workshop with special emphasize on the Manual titled:” How to start the process of participative Local economic development” describing the way in which the Manual was made, its contents and objective.

European Charter on Local Self-Governance as well as Draft of the Law on principles of local self-governance in FBiH was discussed in the workshop from aspect of citizens and civil society organisations. It was emphasized that the Law is the first step towards realisation of the Charter, but it is necessary to introduce citizens with terms of civil initiatives, referendum, petition, assembly of citizens and other institutes and ways that may be used for achievement of rights in accordance with principle “from down to up” in making decisions in society, in which education of civil organisation itself must takeover the leading role.

Participants were given materials provided by OSCE Field office Foca and ALDI u.g. Gorazde: manuals and copies of draft of the Law and booklets “European Charter on Local Self-Governance”.
