Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Southeastern Europe

  • According to the latest data of the World Bank Bosnia and Herzegovina together with Albania is placed at the bottom of scale among the Southeastern European countries.

  • In September 2004 the World Bank announced the latest data about Gross Domestic Product per capita for the year of 2003. in its annual publication World development Indicators database the World Bank announced data for 206 national economies by two criteria - GNI per capita and GNI parity purchase power - PPP.

     

  • Although Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past three years improved its position comparing global economy its GNI per capita is still the lowest one among all countries in the South-eastern Europe. According to the data of the World Bank ranking list of countries of the South-eastern Europe for 2003 the GNI per capita was the highest in Slovenia (49 th position in the world economy) and the lowest in BiH (123 rd position in the world economy).

  • The same as in 2002 Bosnia and Herzegovina still has a decrease of Gross national income measured by parity of purchase power. In 2001 according to this criteria Bosnia and Herzegovina was on the 92. place, in 2002 on the 95. place and in 2003 it was on 98. place in the world economy.

    GNI Per capita

  • Although all countries from the South-eastern Europe recorded growth of PPP GNI Per capita only Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania recorded decrease on ranking list of the World Bank.

In this report the GNI per capita in Bosnia and Herzegovina was amounted to 1540 US$ in 2003, by which the position of BiH was improved and moved from 125 th place in 2002 to 123 rd place of national economies in accordance with height of GNI per capita.
